I am sorry to read of the corrosion in the engine cradle. My name is Diana and I will be happy to assist you, regarding your concern. Thank you for contacting the Ford of Canada Customer Relationship Centre. Proceeding with engine cradle replacement next week at Ford in Peterborough at my expense. Please help us with this issue before it causes every Escape owner unexpected damage and potentially safety related issues. A Ford mechanic told us it is a known issue and is caused by air conditioning condensate dripping from the firewall/bulkhead directly above. The rust hole is quite large at 3-4 inches long and 1 inch height to the right of where the drive shaft exits the transmission. We were told the mount will soon fail/crumble causing the engine to drop, causing loss of control and further damage. We have been told that this is a dangerous situation by a Ford dealer and also other licensed mechanics. We bought this Escape in 2009 new and it has already has a large rusted hole in the engine cradle at the rear rhs mount.
